Classic Bluegrass Music Group
UpHill Climb is a classic bluegrass gospel music group. Based in southwest
Michigan, its members are: Bill Colwell, Ken Simpson, and John McElligott.
Their traditional harmonies and lyrics have musical and spiritual roots that
reach back to the hills of Kentucky and Tennessee.

Bill’s banjo, mandolin, finger guitar and fiddle playing, Ken’s bass,
and John’s acoustic rhythm guitar create a rustic sound that reflects
the old time feel that Gospel bluegrass music is known for. Bill and
John take turns with lead vocals, and Ken sings tenor. Their harmonies
win approval from every crowd.
Before joining UpHill Climb, Ken played with
various local groups, while John traveled regionally with the group
Wooden Nickel. And Bill toured internationally with several groups,
including Gary Brewer and the Kentucky Ramblers, Little Creek, and
Lonesome Road – starring Ron Stewart.

UpHill Climb sings for universities, churches,
festivals, schools and concert halls. They have performed in concert
with the Isaacs and New Found Road, two top notch
professional Gospel Bluegrass groups. UpHill Climb also writes and
performs many original songs in their repertoire.
